The 2015/2016 Academic Session NSS
Senate Council was inaugurated today 19th November, 2015 at Lala
Mustafa Pasa Conference Hall. The inauguration which was chaired by the sitting
NSS President Comr. Farouk Madaka was attended by members of his cabinet, 23
out of 24 serving senators, former senators and members of the congress.
The inauguration was followed
immediately by the election of principal officers to constitute the leadership
of the senate to pilot affairs of the legislative arm of the society. The
elections were conducted in accordance to the constitution of the society as
amended.
Results of the elections were as

Shortly after the elections, the NSS
President Comr. Farouk Madaka congratulated the newly elected principal
officers of the house and charged them to carry out their responsibilities
without fear or favour but with the fear of God, he went further to handover
necessary documents to the newly elected Senate President as he was called to
give his first preliminary speech. In his speech, the senate president Senator
Mustafa Yunusa thanked the executive council for a free, fair and transparent
elections, he thanked everyone that voted for him and those that made the
democratic process competitive and urged all contestants to collectively come
on board to work together with him. He further emphasized on uniting the house
for a common legislative purpose to check mate the activities of the executive
arm for the betterment of every Nigerian student in EMU and its environs.
